THERE’S A STORY BEHIND THE SOCIETY.
Good Dog Society started with a simple idea: Dogs deserve a better day.
We wanted to create a place where dogs could spend time with other dogs, have fun, explore and be themselves - without the overwhelming noise and chaos that can come with traditional daycare.
A place where the people caring for them actually know them. Where rest is just as important as play. Where every dog is treated as an individual. And where their humans can leave them for the day knowing they're genuinely cared for.
So, we decided to build it ourselves.
IT STARTED WITH OUR OWN DOGS …
Good Dog Society wasn't born from a business plan.
It started with a love of dogs and a belief that there was room for something different.
We kept coming back to the same question:
What would we want our own dogs' day to look like?
The answer wasn't bigger groups or more stimulation.
It was a place that felt calm, considered and genuinely dog-focused.
Somewhere dogs could socialise without being overwhelmed, play without being pushed to exhaustion, and have the freedom to simply be themselves.
That idea became Good Dog Society.
What started as a conversation has become a work-in-progress, a growing community and - hopefully very soon - a real place for dogs to call their second home.
We're building it one good dog day at a time.
MEET THE FOUNDERS
Good Dog Society is the result of two dog people deciding that maybe we could do daycare a little differently.
Meet Bec
After years managing projects, people and problems in government, Bec decided to move into an industry with more reasonable stakeholders: dogs.
In another life, she even started studying to become a vet - before discovering fairly quickly that she was much more interested in hugging the patients than operating on them. A career adjustment was made.
She's been pet sitting and dog walking since 2018, caring for dogs of all ages, sizes and personalities - and becoming extremely comfortable structuring her life around other people's pets.
At GDS, Bec looks after the day-to-day operations, dog experience and the many small details involved in making sure every dog is happy, understood and properly cared for.
Alongside Karina, she's building the kind of daycare she'd want for her own dog, George - who remains heavily involved in the business despite contributing very little financially.
Still managing stakeholders. These ones rarely send emails.
Meet Karina
After more than 20 years in marketing, Karina decided she was ready for a more creative and meaningful challenge - with fewer meetings and considerably more four-legged clients.
A Newcastle local, she's grown up with dogs her whole life and has always had a soft spot for the family pets. These days, Rosie, a rescue who joined the family in 2025, keeps her company - and has quickly established herself as an important member of the household.
At GDS, Karina looks after the brand, marketing and bigger picture - bringing the ideas, strategy and many, many details together to help turn Good Dog Society from an idea into something real.
Alongside Bec, she's building the kind of daycare she'd want for her own dog - with Rosie providing plenty of daily inspiration and absolutely no useful business advice.
Still putting the marketing skills to work. These clients just don't read the briefs.
Together we’re building GDS from the ground up - from finding the right space and designing the environment to figuring out all the little details that will make a dog's day better.
There are plenty of spreadsheets, decisions and probably far too many conversations about dogs involved.
But underneath all of it is one simple goal:
To create a daycare we'd genuinely want for our own dogs.
Meet George
The original good dog.
George isn't technically a founder.
He'd probably tell you otherwise.
As the dog who inspired much of the GDS journey, George has been involved from the beginning - supervising plans, testing ideas and providing unsolicited feedback whenever required.
His official titles include:

Snacks.
Naps.
Quality control.
Looking handsome in photographs.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
A good dog day is about balance.
We don't believe dogs need to be entertained every minute of the day.
We believe they need the opportunity to play, explore, socialise, learn, sniff, rest and simply be dogs.
We believe smaller groups allow for more thoughtful care.
We believe enrichment is about more than tiring a dog out.
We believe rest is just as important as activity.
And we believe knowing a dog - really knowing them - makes all the difference.
We're not trying to create the busiest daycare.
We're trying to create one of the best days your dog can have.
OUR VALUES
Calm: We believe a good day doesn't need to be chaotic.
Care: We pay attention to the little things - because they matter.
Connection: Dogs are social creatures. We want them to build positive connections with dogs and people.
Enrichment: Busy bodies are great. Busy brains matter too.
Trust: You trust us with a member of your family. We don't take that lightly.

We're finding our home, building the space, growing our community and getting everything ready for the first members of the pack.
